When Maureen left hospital in September 2016 she knew she would need help to stay living at her home in Newtown.
As well as a live-in carer Maureen required specialist care to ensure she was able to travel to her dialysis treatment appointment at Welshpool Hospital three times a week.
Renal dialysis is one of the specialist areas our nurses are trained in within complex care so CLCA was able to provide a care package, and a team of nurses, to help Maureen stay living at home, but still accessing the treatment she needs.
“The care and support that I receive from the CLCA staff is excellent and I am always treated with dignity,” says Maureen, who also has a tracheostomy.
“I have a team of carers and if one of them has to be somewhere else they always make sure that a member of the team is there to cover them, they are always very reliable.”
Maureen is taken to Welshpool Hospital for dialysis sessions three afternoons a week, and the CLCA carers are with her from the minute they leave her house, throughout the treatment, and until she returns home.
This time also allows Maureen’s live-in carer to have the required time off she needs – but doesn’t leave Maureen without assistance.
“I would definitely recommend CLCA to someone who may require similar care or treatment,” added Maureen.
“They are able to give me the care I need with the tracheostomy and with my dialysis needs and I am always able to contact someone when I need them.”
